A Little Secret About Skin Care Treatments!

When talking with fellow beauty specialists about the skincare treatments they love, it’s not retinol creams or the newest facials that were raving about its laser treatments.  Those in the know go to get scars and age spots zapped away.

Although I’m constantly researching new skin treatments, there is always renewed appreciation for the many ways that lasers help restore skin to its full glory. No mind tricks here, just effective, science-backed treatments that dermatologists stand by for visible results.

Nothing really can take the place of what lasers can do for the skin.  For somebody who is younger, you can get away with a good skin care regimen, some sunscreen and a chemical peel here and there.  But you reach a point where you wish you could get back that perk that you used to have.  This is where lasers come in.  They can do a world of difference.

What is Laser?

Laser stands for Light Amplified by Simulated Emission of Radiation. Yep, it’s complicated. It’s a wavelength of light, and different things in our skin will absorb different wavelengths. There is one wave length used to target brown spots, another for red bumps, another for veins, etc. In fact every pro has multiple machines to handle the most common complaints, from fading stretch marks to treating rosacea.

Brown spots and discolouration, redness, wrinkles, acne scarring, surgery scars, stretch marks, and even tattoo removal are all things a laser might be recommended for. They’re not like magic erasers but they are quite helpful.

One reason why dermatologists love skin laser treatments is they get the job done and require very little follow-up once a series of treatments are finished.

Let’s be real for a second: lasers are not cheap, but when you compare a lump sum for a handful of laser treatments to a life time supply of [insert skincare product here], you see why so many people, dermatologists included – think its worth the cost.

Various laser treatments have been performed at Electrolysis by Shelly over the past sixteen years. We work with both the Alexandrite (755 nm) and the ND Yag (1064 nm) laser.

Our treatments include: skin rejuvenation, sun damage, discolouration and brown spots, spider veins and hair removal.
